FST 030 Phony - Good Times / Silent Place 7"/CDS
While waiting for the debut album by Berlin band "Phony", soon to be
released, called "Phony-Love" (recorded in Stockholm, Sweden), Firestation Tower Records presents you this fantastic 7"/CDS.
It's a double A sider with songs "Good Times" and "Silent Place".
Though the musicians hail from Canada, GB and the USA Phony-songs have the sparkle and charm of songs from Northern England.
Thus in "Good Times" you'll taste a melancholic flavour also to be found
in works by Teenage Fanclub, Ash and Travis.
"Silent Place"- feat. Vivie Haddadene of Capsule- and Trikot-fame is a huge surprise and already our "Single of the Month". The song wonderfully combines the Phony-sound with latin pop (à la Astrud Gilberto, Club 8) and finesse (à la Saint Etienne).
Want even more? On drums they've got Mr. Gonzalez of Le Hammond Inferno! The CD-version feat. the additional "Long away" and the Capsule- remix of "Silent Place".
